Summary:

This position is responsible for providing medication support services and specialty mental health services under the Rehabilitation Options and Targeted Case Management Services to children, adolescents, transition age youth and adults under the supervision of the agency Psychiatrists.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides mental health medication support services and specialty mental health services within the scope of practice.
  • Assists Psychiatrists during psychiatric consultations/treatment and responds to all requests, as appropriate.
  • Responsible in scheduling all psychiatry clients.
  • Authorizes prescription refill requests as directed by the agency Psychiatrist.
  • Educates clients on the potential benefits, risks and side effects of the prescribed medications.
  • Works with clients to develop their awareness and understanding of their psychiatric symptoms and diagnoses.
  • Facilitates medication education groups for clients, families and staff (e.g. medications, drug interactions) on an as needed basis.
  • Completes nursing assessments such as taking and recording vital signs, taking medical history, and related information.
  • Maintain a client medication history log and notifies appropriate staff of any medication changes.
  • Monitors medication storage, distribution and destruction in office and/or in STRTP facilities, working with STRTP management to ensure compliance with agency policies and contractual requirements.
  • Monitors medication records in accordance with agency policies, FDA requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinates medication check-in from pharmacy and delivery of medications to STRTP facilities working collaboratively with House Manager and/or Site Administrators.
  • Regularly monitors STRTP client medication to ensure client will not run out of medication supply especially during holidays and weekends.

Requirements:

  • A valid Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the State of California.
  • Knowledge of medical, nursing, and mental health terminology, especially relating to psychiatric medication.
  • Strong medical ethics.
  • Experience in mental health and substance abuse.
  • Knowledge of medical records maintenance.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and provide proof of insurance if transporting clients/families.
  • Obtain, within 30 days of employment Pro-ACT, Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification and maintain such certification current through the term of employment with SGCC.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish/English preferred

Summary:

The SHORT-TERM RESIDENTIAL THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM (STRTP) QUALITY ASSURANCE (QA) Coordinator plans, develops, and administers the internal quality assurance program and supports the STRTP leadership team with development of any needed program improvements that are identified during regular reviews of program requirements. This position will plan, organize and direct auditing activities for the STRTP program. The primary quality assurance goal is to track, monitor, analyze and provide data to the STRTP program regarding their compliance with contracts as well as county, state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the QA Manager to establish internal ongoing electronic audit tools.
  • Works with QA Manager to establish quality assurance guidelines and collects data for the quality improvement goals for the STRTP program.
  • Ensures that Department of Mental Health (DMH), Community Care Licensing (CCL) and all STRTP contract guidelines are being followed. Provides updated contract materials and/or information to STRTP leadership as it becomes available.
  • Attends all required Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QI) Meetings and represents San Gabriel Children’s Center (SGCC) in a positive and professional manner. Takes notes and reports meeting findings to appropriate SGCC personnel.
  • Participates, coordinates, and documents STRTP agenda items within the agency’s Internal Quality Improvement Meetings.
  • Reviews STRTP client records as required by all contracts for compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work or other related mental health field education and as applicable, and several years of experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Obtain and sustain a valid California driver’s license, provide current proof of auto insurance and maintain a safe vehicle. Must have held a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Live Scan clearance, pre-employment physical, TB test and drug test.
